Events in hotel - LifeClass PortorozA pleasant sun of June invites our skin to throw off all unnecessary clothing and allow for the gentle south wind to caress it. However, before that we need to treat ourselves to some more health treatment as we usually do. More than a couple of thousand years ago, the health treatment was intended primarily for religious purposes, for example many people thus painted their bodies and faces with mineral colours as part of religious rituals. In the Old Egypt the culture of applying make-up was in full bloom and they would use a mixture of ashes and clay gently foamed with water, instead of soap which at that time they were unfamiliar with. Old Greeks and Romans resumed the knowledge of the Egyptians and upgraded it. In the Roman Empire, the so-called “Thermae” with their own libraries, gorgeous parks and exhibition space displaying numerous magnificent sculptures were shooting up like mushrooms after the rain. Thermae became an important meeting place and an inevitable part of everyday cultural and social life. In towns, there were also several medieval public baths, yet they could not compete with the Roman baths as regards their splendour. Men and women used to bath together at the beginning, nevertheless this tradition soon died out due to many epidemic diseases and consequently public baths also became only a memory of the past. Our story made its turn in the Middle Ages when the Crusaders brought secret knowledge on cosmetics and completely new oriental fragrances to Europe. These fragrances more or less successfully concealed poor personal hygiene. The first masters in this field were the creators of fragrances at the court of the “Sun King” who was “famous” for his intolerable personal odour and who was also an ardent adversary of washing with water. Fortunately, applying powder and perfume instead of washing were cut adrift at the end of the 18th century when health was again associated with clean body and soaps, shampoos, toothpastes and bathtubs were again brought back into homes. Since the very beginning of the 20th century, there has been a fierce competition within the cosmetics industry as to who shall find the most efficient beauty preparation first. However, this field has also returned back to the nature. The beauty products are today made of resins, vegetable oils and other substances whose beneficent cosmetic effects were well-know in the early history. LifeClass Terme&Wellness also base their operations on this knowledge and thus offer you a composition of beneficent natural sea elements, Mediterranean tradition, oriental wisdom, new findings and state-of-the-art technology. Time has come for you to explore and study our offer and treat your body with a complete pre-summer revitalisation. info JUNE PROGRAM AT LIFECLASS HOTELS & RESORTS PORTOROZ JUNE PROGRAM AT GRAND HOTEL PALACE CAFE CENTRAL: COCKTAILS, COGNAC & CIGARS 18.00 - 24.00 EVENING PROGRAM 21.00 PIANO NIGHT WEDNESDAY – DEDICATED TO...
